Burning Wild A Leopard Novel Christine Feehan Books
I'm blown away. This is the third book in the series and as much as I loved the other two this one was unbelievably amazing. I don't think anyone likes to read about child abuse whether emotional or physical. The abuse Jake suffered was horrible, reading about it was hard but it definitely helped in understanding Jake's character... emotional detached, cunning, evil at times, conniving. Emma I'm not sure where to start with her character. In the beginning I thought she was going to be weak, a pushover even knowing she was going to be a loving and caring characters that both Jake and his son needed. She had dramatic events happened to her in the beginning of the book and I guess that's the reason I thought of her the way I did... as fragile. But she surprised me! she over came those events, became a strong supporter of character while still loving and caring all the while in a way teaching Jake feeling are ok, not everyone is evil and out to gain, conquer, and destroy others. I thought the first two were emotional this one is a whole different level of emotional. Christine did a fantastic job with combining depth, emotion, and hotness.Tags : Amazon.com: Burning Wild (A Leopard Novel) (9780515146233): Christine Feehan: Books,Christine Feehan,Burning Wild (A Leopard Novel),Berkley,0515146234,Romance - Paranormal - General,Interpersonal attraction,Occult fiction,Rich people,Romantic suspense fiction,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,AMERICAN SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY,FICTION Romance Fantasy,FICTION Romance Paranormal General,FICTION Romance Paranormal Shifters,FICTION Romance Suspense,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction-Romance,MASS MARKET,Romance,RomanceGeneral, paranormal romance;romantic suspense;romantic fantasy;paranormal;fantasy;supernatural;romance;suspense;contemporary;shapeshifters;shifters;love;dating and relationships;family;single dad;workplace romance;mates;alpha male;Emma Reynolds;rainforest;jungle;Borneo;Texas;Leopard books;Christine Feehan books;paranormal romance books;shifter romance books;romantic suspense books;romance books;romance novels;shifter romance;ghost;fiction;novels;fiction books;books fiction;romance novel;romantic novels, paranormal romance; romantic suspense; romantic fantasy; paranormal; fantasy; supernatural; romance; suspense; contemporary; shapeshifters; shifters; love; dating and relationships; family; single dad; workplace romance; mates; alpha male; Emma Reynolds; rainforest; jungle; Borneo; Texas; Leopard books; Christine Feehan books; paranormal romance books; shifter romance books; romantic suspense books; fantasy romance; shifter romance; romance novels; fiction; fiction books; romance novel; romance suspense; ghost; novels
Burning Wild A Leopard Novel Christine Feehan Books Reviews
This is a nice, middle of a the road book. As a Christine Feehan book, it is neither bad or exceptional. The characters follow her usual rules, and the overall plot is her normal one. I would have liked the ending more thorough - I find myself a bit blood thirsty these days, and the ultimate battle was less intense than I am used to. That might must be because there were children involved though, which is unusual for her books.
This was an ok read, but the problem I had with this book was Emma, how should I put this! To me her character is what I would call a DOORMAT! There were times I wanted to scream at her to put her foot down where Jake is concern, but she didn't. Arrgghh I really dislike books like this, i mean if your going to write a about an intense, hard, arrogant alpha male you need to write a heroine who is going to be his match in every way.
As you all should know by now, I have been a Christine Feehan fan for at least 10 years, if not longer. I've read everything the woman has written and I plan to keep doing the same.
With that said, Burning Wild, was how can I say... HOT. This book is part of her Leopard Series or more like an introduction really - since the first two stories in the series were short stories in books that she shares with other authors. Jake Bannaconni is a cold, revenge driven man who likes to take action to make sure things are done his way. He has everything money can buy and will definitely use his money to make sure that doesn't change. Due to unforseen circumstances, Emma Reynolds loses everything short of her life, she ends up having to rely on Jake for help. Little does she know, that Jake's plans are for a complete takeover.
Jake was extremely unbalanced emotionally through most of the book, but by the end I felt that we got our hero. He was controlling and moody, and the intimate scenes (which were very long and detailed) were raw (maybe a bit violent for my tastes) and displayed the darker side of the leopard people. We are also introduced to additional leopards which probably means more books in the series should be expected.
I don't believe Ms. Feehan made mistakes with this book, but that depends on how you view the book altogether. I definitely don't recommend this one as your introduction to her books though. The Dark Series or Drake Sisters Series would be a much better start.
This is my favorite Feehan book so far. Very unique story. Jake is a character who has overcome a lot in life and I always like that. He is somewhat flawed but he is also searching. He finds what he wants but he relies on manipulation to get it. He's insecure because of a horrible childhood and even after all he has accomplished, he has no idea how to make Emma love him and stay with him just because of love. He keeps thinking there must be something else and he does his best to tie her to him in other ways.
Some surprises here that really shocked me. Emma is the perfect compliment to Jake's personality. It turns out Emma has some secrets of her own and has overcome a lot in life herself. These two are a good match.
The sex in this book leans a little more into dominance and submission but most all of Feehan's males are dominant and the females submission in some degree. It seemed to "fit" these two characters fairly well.
I actually wanted jake to do away with the bad people in this book and I wondered why he waited. I think I would personally have been more vindictive. Jake is a much better person than he thinks he is.
At any rate, it's one of Feehan's best stories. The story and plot move along quickly and the love story is believable to me.
Some of Feehan's books get bogged down in longing and I feel like the entire story is just one massive long sex scene. This book had a lot more to it.
I would recommend this story as long as a person is not squeamish about explicit sex that is a little beyond plain vanilla sex.
I was afraid to read this book after reading some of the reviews. However, I took the plunge and I'm glad I did. Yes, if was brutal and uncomfortable at times. Jake was an a$$. At first. But if you stick with it you will get it. You will understand why the character had to be written that way. The character of Emma wouldn't have worked otherwise. Both the characters ended up being interesting, intense, and exciting. If Jake was a real person as opposed to a fictional character, would I like him or could l be in a relationship with him? No. But I see he is a very very complex character. Many levels. Just like the character of Emma. The storyline was very intriguing and intense. Great read. I'm so glad I didn't let the bad reviews scare me away. Don't skip this. You'll be a uncomfortable and uneasy through a lot if it but it is definitely worth it. Jake is not like the character of Wyatt in the ghostwriter series (I think that was his name), who in my opinion had zero redeemable qualities right through the last word of the book. Just my opinion. I barely got through that book.
