This story focuses on the reunion of Melancton (a Boeotian satyr) and his nymph, Daphne. Daphne has been held prisoner by the Greek God Apollo, chained to a laurel tree, where she was slowly allowing the tree to take over her body (effectively killing her) rather than betray her love for Melancton and let Apollo have her. That is until Hermes took action and reunited them (check out Mercury Rising for that story!). Obviously, super cray-cray Apollo must have his vengeance and enlists the help of his super-mega cray-cray half-brother Dionysus… who we know has his own agenda – seeking the mystical syrinx entrusted to the care of the Arcadian satyrs.

To aid in the reunion of Melancton and Daphne are a group of Arcadian satyrs running a Bed and Breakfast in Savannah, GA (check out Midnight at the Satyr Inn for background info!). These satyrs – Vander, Orestes, Calix, and Jacen agree to protect Melancton and Daphne from Apollo. What they cannot anticipate is that Dionysus is playing a wildcard, and enlists the help of a new character to aid Apollo in his search.

So, I’m mostly just going to randomly free-flow some thoughts here.

· I was utterly happy at the reunion of Melancton and Daphne – but they were both plagued with guilt of not having been able to protect the other. But there was no denying the profound love they have maintained for the other for hundreds of years. It was really rewarding to learn more about these two.

· And the Arcadians… we got a taste of them in “Midnight”, but in my opinion they are maybe the best group of satyrs to read about yet. I really loved their humor and camaraderie.

· When the author introduced Bremusa, I thought “Seriously?!? A vrykolakas!” I don’t know if such a creature is actually part of Greek mythology, but I became disappointed at what I perceived to be a cliché addition. That was until probably the last 25% of the book…

· Bremusa (under false information) sets in motion some pretty high-intensity actions. When Apollo finds the guys and “a;dlkja;kdnf;akdnd” happens! Oh, so heartbreaking! It’s been a long time since I read a book and became emotional, but that scene had my vision swimming. Then we read about “oiakd;mfakdn;fkadn” at the end! It makes the anticipation for the next book in the series almost unbearable.

Again, I cannot sing the praises for this series enough. Romance, action, humor, mythology, suspense. Just so good! Definitely a full 5 stars in my opinion; this is the best book of the series, yet, for me.

I've said it before, one of my fundamental truths is that I am unabashedly in love with mythology. Greek and Nordic top my personal list of 'go-to' fab reads. It’s a field I also dabble in as a writer so I'm a bit picky about reading another's take on the same subject.

But, I've always enjoyed Ms. Lewis's world of sexy satyrs, unjust curses and a love strong enough to defy the Gods themselves. Fluid storytelling, substantial character depth and a fresh take on the tapestry of paranormal tropes.

Those Gods are tricky ones sometimes but among the overblown narcissism there lurks one or two good eggs, determined to right some wrongs foisted on others by their kinfolk. In this tale, it's Hermes and his devotion to righting a wrong shines through and simply gives another layer to the fascinating God he is.

'Satyr' is full of emotional and longing, magic and mayhem, mischief and ultimately, the lengths we'd all go to (God and Mortal alike) to be with the one we love.

Well done, Ms. Lewis.
Satyr from the Shadows is based on an interesting concept, that the Greek Gods and mythical creatures are alive and many are living among us. Lewis has created a group of satyrs who seem to be getting their own love stories one by one. This is the third book. Maybe it was because I have not read the first two books that I found the story a little confusing in the beginning. There were a couple of scenes that explained things, and if they had come sooner, I think it would have been better.
Satyr from the Shadows is a twist on the old Apollo and Daphne myth set in ancient Greece and present day America. I found Lewis's characters interesting, and well rounded, her plot unique. I found myself reading quickly as the story progressed, wanting to know what happened.
I like a series like this where the characters are connected, but each book can be read separately. And now that I've read this one, I want to know what happens to some of the other characters. I want to know their stories! That's the way this kind of series should be. Each book stands alone, but leaves you wanting to read more.
This is book 3 in The Cursed Satyroi series.
I was looking forward to Melancton and Daphne's story and this one did not disappoint. They had so much going against them I wasn't sure if it was possible for it to work out. You just never know what will happen when Gods and Goddesses are involved.

I wonder what madness Miss Lewis has in store for us next!
Each book in this series gets better than the last. This one was no different. Melancton and Daphne's story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The struggles they had to go through to be together were tremendous. What Apollo did to Daphne because was obsessed with her... It was painful to read about her becoming a part of a tree.

Thank Goodness for Hermes. I love that dude. He saw an injustice and found a way to rescue the poor tortured nymph and return her to the satyr she loved.

The problem...the struggle didn't end there. There is always a price to be paid and the satyrs paid the highest one. The feels...so many feels.

This book takes you through so many emotions. Pick this book up. Read it--devour it--and then revel in the book hangover it leaves you with. It is well worth the emotional upheaval. You will not be disappointed to ride the roller coaster of emotions Satyr from the Shadows takes you on.
